Client's Heirloom Bed Transformation...

A client of mine contacted me about painting some pieces of furniture for her including a Vintage Bed and Rocking Chair that belonged to her Grandma.  I will share both transformations with you but will start with the bed....it is my favorite of the two!

This bed is a full size bed with arched headboard and curved footboard!  Wow!  Perfectly Shabby Chic!  The bed has many nice details including it's shape, floral carvings, original casters, a lovely floral design and of course cherished memories!  My client wanted to update the bed and lighten the color so she could use it in a guest bedroom.

The Bed before:

The Headboard had some great floral designs and carved details.

The footboard was Fabulous!  It was curved and also had the floral design and carvings!

I primed and painted both pieces and they already looked much better!  I hated loosing the original Floral design but it was well worth it once the bed was completed!

The headboard primed:

The footboard primed:

Top Coats Done in Sherwin Williams AntiqueWhite Paint:

They look quite nice already but with some light distressing with a sanding block around the details and the carvings the bed went from quite nice to Stunning!  Once the distressing was done a clear coat of wax was applied.

With all the fabulous details highlighted with the distressing it was okay that the two floral designs were painted over.  The wonderful carvings now being prominent made up for the loss of the artwork!

My Client Loved the Bed and was so Excited to take it home and put it in her Guest Room!

Up Next...Grandma's Rocker....
